My book "Number The Stars" matters, this book tells a story of a girl named Annemarie and her journey and tough times going through the Holocaust. My book ends in a celebration as the war has ended and the city of Copenhagen, Denmark is free and Jewish families can be themselves again after their long journey through helping Ellen and her family and blending in with the crowd sneaking past Nazi soldiers. Annemaire has turned into a powerful young women who is following in her sister's footsteps. "Churchbells rang all over Copenhagen, early that May evening. The Danish flag was raised everywhere. People stood in the streets and wept as they sang the national anthem of Denmark." Based on this evidence I know that the meaning of this book is to inform and entertain the reader on the holocaust and give a story on what really happend in some people's lives. This is important because the holocaust was such a huge event in history and "Number The Stars" gives a real world example on what it was like. Events from this book can still impact us today so we can reflect on the Holocaust and change our actions so we do not repeat history.
